Ghecemy Lopez is a bilingual, global expert in Breast Cancer Research Advocacy, Lay Patient Navigation, Grant Management, Language Education, Multiculturalism and the Development of Social Innovations that can address Health Disparities in Underrepresented Communities.
A former leader of the YSC Face 2 Face Group in Downtown Los Angeles and a two time Cancer Survivor. Lopez is committed to learning, educating and empowering young patients and their loved ones, so they can overcome the challenges that come along with the disease and its aftermath. In her role as Manager and Lead Patient Navigator for the Ronnie Lippin Cancer Support and Navigation Program at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Lopez provides bilingual outreach and customized navigation interventions for families and individuals, especially those who have limited English Proficiency. Additionally, she provides managerial support to the Trojans Adelante Physical Activity Classes, Adelante/A Tu Salud Free Monthly Produce Distribution, the C4SPA4 Promotoras Outreach Program and the Sailors Project. Ghecemy serves as Co-Chair of the Keck Medical Center’s Patient and Family Advisory Council and regularly reviews grants for the U.S. Dept. of Defense BCRP. Lopez holds a Master’s Degree in Adult Education and Training and is a doctoral candidate at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work focusing her final project in closing the health gap for cancer patients with Limited English Proficiency.
