MSN, NP-C, CBCN, CLT-LANA
Jennifer is a nationally certified nurse practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (ANNP), an ONCC certified breast care nurse (CBCN), and a LANA certified lymphedema therapist (CLT-LANA).
She works in the breast center at the AIS cancer center in Bakersfield, California. They are a nationally accredited breast center (NAPBC) and a commission on cancer (CoC) accredited cancer center. She practices alongside two of our breast surgical oncologists.
Jennifer is also a fellow young breast cancer survivor (NED 14 years!!). She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 at 28 years old after finding a mass while in the shower. She was a single mom of two young children (5 and 3 years old) and had just entered my final year of the undergraduate nursing program.
Jennifer was genetically negative. She was diagnosed with stage II invasive ductal and mucinous breast carcinoma. Her tumor was 3.5 cm and was ER/PR positive and HER2 negative. She underwent a modified radical mastectomy. All nodes were negative. After surgery, Jennifer underwent chemotherapy (AC). She was able to continue with my studies during treatment and graduated with her classmates in 2006.
Jennifer began her career as a chemotherapy infusion nurse and eventually obtained her MSN as a nurse practitioner in 2010. Jennifer proudly advocates for our young breast cancer survivors. One of the ways she chooses to advocate for these individuals is through YSC as the Bakersfield YSC Face2Face coordinator.
