Founder, Calm City
Kristin Westbrook is the founder of Calm City, New York’s first Mobile Meditation Studio. Housed in a classic RV, Calm City combines a boutique meditation studio experience with the convenience of a food truck. The mobile studio reaches the public at various pop-up locations around the city providing live and audio-guided meditation sessions. Calm City also customizes programs for corporations, hospitals, schools and events. The mobile studio is a safe and friendly space to take a break from hectic city life and just chill.
Kristin began meditating in 2001. She is a certified meditation teacher and has fulfilled the requirements for the 100-hour Meditation Teacher Training as prescribed by the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science. She is also trained in the Transcendental Meditation technique. She has a consistent daily meditation practice as well as practicing numerous styles of yoga.
Kristin is a former Creative Director for major retailers as well as Fortune 500 companies and a designer for national publications. Westbrook discovered the power of meditation after her breast cancer diagnosis at age 42 and then again two years later. Her longtime meditation practice helped her cope with the stress of the unknown and enabled her to focus on healing. Her meditation practice continues to help her navigate the healthcare system and the challenges that come with living with Metastatic Breast Cancer.
